Backpack introduces Arbitrum to Wallet ๐๐งก
Backpack Wallet more than doubled the amount of networks it supports with the addition of Arbitrum, Solana Devnet and Ethereum Sepoila.
To use Solana Devnet and Ethereum Sepolia, first enable Developer Mode in the Settings ๐งโ๐ป
Solana Devnet and Ethereum Sepoila serve the same purpose as test networks for developers to test their smart contracts and applications.
Arbitrum is an L2 (Layer 2) protocol built on the Ethereum blockchain with the main goal of providing fast and inexpensive transactions for Ethereum products.
We must decentralize.
The Arbitrum DAO is a massive leap forward, making Arbitrum the first EVM rollup tech to reach Stage 1 decentralization.
Individuals across the ecosystem can participate in governance. Token holders control protocol upgrades, funds allocation, and election of a Security Council who can perform emergency upgrades. Your voting power is derived directly from the number of tokens delegated to you.
Another dash of transparency added to the Backpack Wallet recipe ๐ง
The EVM Activity tab in Backpack Wallet went from old and busted to new hotness with the addition of several new transaction descriptors.
Solanaโs activity tab ditched the alarming red font color and went with a neutral gray along with a clear distinction between App Interactions and signed transactions.
Layer Zeroโs native token $ZRO listed on Exchange ๐ช
$ZRO is the native token of LayzerZero, the smart contract protocol which enables different L1 blockchains to share assets and data.
Backpack Exchange listed the token early on the morning of June 20th.
Although LayerZero provides services to multiple blockchains, $ZRO is an EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) token.
The number of blockchains which LayerZero supports is expansive with seventy five total mainnet networks including:
Ethereum
BNB
Avalanche
Polygon
Arbitrum
Optimism
Tenet

Devs can use Helius RPCs in Backpack Wallet ๐
Backpack has embedded RPC switching into the Wallet making it easy to enter a custom RPC address.
RPC (Remote Procedure Call) endpoints connect users to the blockchain, typically through a wallet application.
Users can secure their own custom RPC address via Helius, the largest developer tooling and infrastructure provider on Solana.
The Backpack Default RPC is a Helius-provided RPC.

LAD OF THE WEEK: Umi โ๏ธ
Congratulations to Umi, our LAD OF THE WEEK!
The long time Mad Lads holder is a dynamo IRL with a penchant for helping others.
Our LOTW represents a demographic of the Mad Lads community which is not acknowledged enough: the silent majority.
Mad Lads is known as one of the most vocal communities on crypto Twitter despite the fact that there are *only* a few hundred who fall into this category.
You wonโt find a vast majority of holders in the comment sections regularly but they follow the Mad Lads and Backpack journey just as close.
A reason I donโt like to turn down early stage founders is because I still believe that everyone starts somewhere and it only takes a few people to see them and believe.
Feeling seen helps people go further.
Make sure to follow Umi if you havenโt already!

MagicBlock finally reveals new Solana game engine ๐ฎ
The MagicBlock game engine built on Solana allows multiple users to play simultaneously in real time with zero lag.
This is because the position account has been temporarily delegated into a blazing fast Solana validatorโก๏ธ
The account is still readable on Solana, but is locked for the duration of the play session
MagicBlock has a long history of sponsoring intensive game-focused hackathons where builders must start from zero and deploy a working product in less than five days.
The โgamejamsโ are known as Solana Speedruns and has helped place MagicBlock on the map.
Backpack sponsored a reward during one of these events, a Mad Lad was awarded to the best game deployed on Backpack as an xNFT.
They have also been accepted into the a16โs Crypto Startup Accelerator which provides mentorship, funding and connections for promising fledgling brands.
We can't wait to be in London to connect with the other teams and top crypto founders!

If youโve heard of Teleport, youโre early ๐
Teleport has appeared in numerous back issues of Mad News because they are one of the only Solana projects which has displayed a tangible real world impact.
The decentralized rideshare service is live in Austin, Texas right now with plans to expand globally soon.
Riders pay less. Much less.
Drivers earn more. Much more.
And early adopters get rewarded.
The name of the protocol is TRIP (TRIP Rideshare Protocol) provides an alternative to established rideshare systems by allowing Riders to become a part owner of the protocol and empowering Drivers with instant crypto payments for their work.
You're telling me, there's an 'Uber' competitor on Solana called 'Teleport'?
